Track Teams Host 42nd Annual Stockbridge Invitational

The Stockbridge track and field team hosted the 42nd Annual Stockbridge Invitational Friday, May 6 and came away with some strong performances.

Parma Western won both the boy’s and girl’s meets. The Lady Panthers finished third with 92 points, while the boys scored 10 points and finished 11th out of 14 schools participating.

Rylee Tolson won three events to lead the girl’s squad. Tolson won the 800, 1600, and 3200 races. The 3200 was a battle with running partner Brooklyn Rochow. The two were neck-and-neck the whole race with Tolson pulling out the win by .19 seconds. Rochow also finished second in the 1600.

Megan Mackinder picked up the other win for the Panthers. She won the discus event with a toss of 94.1, beating the second-place finisher by 41 feet.

Gracee Robidou had a big day with a third-place finish in the long jump, fourth place in the 200, and fifth place in the high jump.

The 4×100 relay team of Gabrielle Heath, Kaitelyn Walker, Audrey Austin, and McKenzie Hatfield placed fifth, while Ransom was eighth in the 1600, Walker eighth in the 100 hurdles, and Austin eighth in the pole vault.

For the boys. Micah Bolton was fourth in the 3200, 8th in the 1600, and part of the 4×800 relay that finished 7th, along with Cook, Brock Rochow, and Brendan Wright.

The teams swept a GLAC meet with Maple Valley. The boys won 84-35 and the girls 90-15.

The girls won every event but the high jump.

Picking up wins were Samantha Nothnagel in the 100, Eliana Johnson 200, Rochow with three wins in the 400, 1600, and 3200, Walker in the 100 and 300 hurdles, Mackinder in the shot put and discus, Hatfield in the long jump, Rose Beauregard, Nicole Wadkins, Austin, and Hatfield in the 4100 and 4200 relays, Johnson, Ava Vacarro, Ransom, and Walker in the 4×400, and Vacarro, Sidney Gipe, Ransom, and Johnson in the 4×800.

Collin Cook won 3200 against Maple Valley

Josiah Muzzin won the 110 and 300 hurdles for the boys. Jude Casto won the 100, Micah Bolton the 800 and 1600, Collin Cook the 3200, Dominic Hoeppner the shot and discus, Ethan Monaghan high jump, the 4×100 team of Jonah Huskey-Wright, Damien Hayes, Ethan Bradley, and Casto, the 4×200 team of Huskey-Wright, Hayes, Jason Gruber, and Monaghan, the 4×400 team of Cook, Brock Rochow, Bolton, and Huskey-Wright, and the 4×800 team of Cook, Brock Rochow, Brendan Wright, and Bolton all earned first-place finishes.

The Panthers split a GLAC meet with Leslie. The girls won 86-34 and the boys fell 88-47.

The girls took first in all the events but one against the Blackhawks.

Robidou won the 100, high jump, long jump, and was part of the winning 4×200 relay with Heath, Austin, and Hatfield for the Panthers.

Tolson won the 400 and 800, and Rochow the 1600 and 3200 and both were part of the winning 4×800 with Vacarro and Kristina Wilde. Walker won the 100 and 300 hurdles, Heath the 200 and was part of the winning 4×100 with Johnson, Austin, and Hatfield, Mackinder the shot put and discus, and Austin the pole vault.

Ethan Bradley was in on three wins for the boys’ team. He won the pole vault, was part of the winning 4×100 and 4×200 with Huskey-Wright, Hayes, and Gruber.

Cook was second in the 800, Muzzin second in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Monaghan second in the high jump, and Finn Coffman second in the pole vault.

The team competed in the East Jackson Dome Classic and girls finished third and the boy’s 12th at the 15-team event.

Tolson picked up wins in the 800 and 3200, while Rochow won the 1600. They both teamed with Ransom and Wilde to finish second in the 4×800.

Mackinder was second in the discus, Rochow second in the 3200, Tolson third in the 400, and Austin sixth in the pole vault.

The boys were led by Bolton with sixth place finishes in the 1600 and 3200, Casto sixth in the 100, and the 6th place finish of the 4×400 team of Brock Rochow, Monaghan, Huskey-Wright, and Bolton.
