Young Soccer Team Hopes to Move Forward

Third-year coach Brent Young and a young Stockbridge soccer team will try to gain experience as they look to improve on a five-win season in 2018.
The Panthers were made up of mostly seniors and freshman in 2018, so most of the returning players in 2019 are very young.
“We tried to schedule more games for later in the season,” Young said. “I knew we were going to have a younger team and wanted to give them time to work together, but luckily we have been working together all summer.”
The Panthers are hoping for a top-four finish in the GLAC. Perennial state power Lansing Christian will once again be at the top of the conference with a strong Lakewood squad lurking. With the early season experience, the Panthers will look to compete with Olivet, Leslie, and Perry for the other top spots in the conference.
Key returnees that Young will be looking for team leadership will be Isaac Lance, Adam Twining, Ben Young, Luke Suojanen, Devin Caroen, Carson Oversmith, and Jonah Husky.
Up and coming newcomers to the team to watch for in 2019 are Jacob Olson and R.J. Fillmore.
