Soccer Picks Up First Win of Season
The Stockbridge girls’ soccer team started slowly in the new season before picking up a big 9-1 mercy win over Maple Valley April 15.
For the first time this season the Panthers offense was running on all cylinders led by a five-goal game by Zoie Spadafore.
Spadafore was all over the field the second half as the Panthers poured it on the Lions and ended the game early with the eight-goal mercy.
Lucy Chapman, Evelynn Johns, Gabby Ramalia, and Ella Hardesty also scored for the Panthers with Rachel Avis recording two assists, while Ramalia and Hardesty had one assist each.
Defensively, Valeria Morales, Rachel Vliet, Mackenzie Johnston, Lillian Topping, Lillyan Trent, and Emma Hollenbeck controlled the game and limited Maple Valley to just three shots on goal. Marissa Nash earned the win in goal.
Stockbridge dropped a 9-2 decision to Springport.
Spadafore and Chapman scored goals for the Panthers with Avis recording an assist.
The Panthers are 1-4 overall on the season.
