North Star Reach to Celebrate 10 Years of Camp Magic with Ribbon Cutting and Tour

by Hope Salyer

North Star Reach will celebrate a decade of providing life-changing camp experiences for children with serious health challenges and their families with a special 10th anniversary ribbon-cutting ceremony and camp tour Wednesday, July 1.

The event will take place from noon to 2:30 p.m. at North Star Reach, 1200 University Camp Drive in Pinckney. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., followed by opportunities for guests to tour the camp and learn more about its mission.

Founded as part of the global SeriousFun Children’s Network established by actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, North Star Reach provides year-round camp programs and experiences for children living with serious health conditions and their families at no cost. Since opening in 2016, the camp has served thousands of campers from across Michigan and the Great Lakes region.

The anniversary celebration is part of the organization’s 2026 “Year of Mooseness,” marking 10 years of camp magic, friendships and memories created on its 105-acre campus near Pinckney. Guests attending the July 1 event will have the opportunity to see the camp firsthand, meet members of the North Star Reach community and learn about the impact the organization has had over the past decade.

North Star Reach’s mission is to provide transformative camp experiences for children with serious health challenges and their families, helping campers build confidence, form friendships and develop a sense of belonging in a medically safe environment. Programs are offered throughout the year, both at camp and virtually, free of charge to participating families.
