Sunday, May 31, Mike (Heet) Wilson of Heet’s Custom Cycles opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting event in Stockbridge. Now, motorcycle service repair and consignment sales are the order of the day at 5122 S. M-106 (formerly a CarQuest and NAPA store).

Among well-wishers on hand to cut the ribbon were Keven Numinen, VP Stockbridge Chamber of Commerce; Jodelle Sparks, Chamber President; C.G. Lantis, Township Board of Supervisor’s Chair and Lantis Auto Shop; Molly Howlett, Village President, and Daryl Anderson Stockbridge Downtown Development Chair.

Wilson grew up in Colorado and lived in Indiana before moving to Michigan. He was partnered with a friend and operating a motorcycle shop in Hell, Mich. Then his partner moved away and the opportunity to set up shop in Stockbridge, “fell in my lap,” he grinned. A friend introduced him to C.G. Lantis who had a building vacancy.

Why come here? “There have been nothing but blessings in Stockbridge,” Wilson said, enthusiasm evident in his voice. He expressed appreciation to Lantis and myriad members of the community, adding, “There’s a great support system throughout the area.”

Wilson already has three bikes for sale, and three coming in this week. “I specialize American V-Twins,” he said, and as the business grows, he hopes to employ additional help.
