Lady Panthers Split Pair of Games

The Stockbridge girls’ basketball team is off to a fast start this season, posting a 2-1 record over the first two weeks including a 62-59 win over a strong Ida squad Tuesday night.

Gwen Rogozinski had a monster game scoring 35 points to lead the Panthers.

Rogozinski was on fire from the start, hitting three triples in the first and finishing with 13 points in the quarter. She would add four more in the second as Ida led 33-29 at the break.

Ida led for most of the game until the final two minutes, but they just didn’t have an answer to stop Rogozinski. She scored seven points in the fourth and Kaylee Dalton hit two big three’s in the final period as the Panthers came from behind for the win.

Dalton finished with 14 points, including four triples.

Madison Mazuca chipped in with seven points, while Brooklyn Rochow, Rylee Tolson, and Chelsey Asquith scored two points each.

The Panthers dropped a hard fought decision to a strong Chelsea team Friday night. The Bulldogs reached the state quarterfinals last season and look on their way to another good season.

Chelsea jumped out to an early 18-9 lead after one quarter and forced the Panthers to play catch up all night.

Stockbridge outscored the Bulldogs 10-6 in the second to cut the lead to 24-19 at the half.

The Bulldogs slowly pulled away in the third, outscoring the Panthers 15-10 to build its lead to 39-29 after three.

Dalton hit three triples in the fourth quarter for Stockbridge, but it wasn’t enough as Chelsea held on for the win.

The Panthers were led by Dalton with 15 points and Rogozinski 13. Mazuca finished with six points, Asquith five, Rochow three, and Tolson two.

Stockbridge will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Eaton Rapids and then open GLAC action Friday night at Maple Valley.
