Lady Panthers Stun by Lansing Christian

On a night they might have been looking ahead to Friday nights showdown with rival Leslie, the Stockbridge girls basketball team came up short as Lansing Christian came to town and shocked the Panthers 49-48 Tuesday night.

Before Tuesday night, the Panthers and Leslie were tied for the top spot in the GLAC with the Blackhawks coming to town Friday, but Lansing Christian had something to say about it and keeping themselves near the top of the GLAC standings.

The Panthers were without one of their top scorers with Grace Hall sitting out and the Pilgrims took advantage of it taking a 15-13 lead after one quarter.

The team continued to battle it out in the second quarter with Lansing Christian leading 29-26 at the hale.

Stockbridge could not cut in to the Pilgrims lead in the third as Lansing Christin clung to a 39-36 lead.

The Panthers continued to struggle offensively in the final period with just two baskets, but sank eight free throws in the period to send it down to the wire, but they came up short in the end.

Stockbridge was just 14 for 28 from the free throw line in the loss.

Gwen Rogozinski led Stockbridge with 19 points, with 13 coming in the first half. She would foul out in the 4th quarter.

Chelsey Asquith finished with 12 points, while Brooklyn Rochow and Kaylee Dalton each had six. Madison Mazuca chipped in with four points and Makayla Surline one.

The Panthers now face a huge game with Leslie Friday night at 5:30. They need a big win to not fall behind the Blackhawks by two games.
