Letter from Superintendent: School closing due to bomb threat

Stockbridge Students and Parents,

Stockbridge Junior/Senior High administration was notified of a time specific bomb threat written on a bathroom wall around 8:45am.  Upon obtaining this information, the Junior/Senior High building was quickly evacuated, local law enforcement was contacted, and the Michigan State K-9 unit was deployed to search the building.  Later in the morning, we received verification from law enforcement that the building was given an all clear.

Late afternoon, we received information from law enforcement that a suspect is in custody and is being lodged in the Ingham County Youth Home.

Stockbridge Community Schools will be open on Tuesday as normal.

We are thankful for the quick action and  cooperation of our students, staff and parents.  The support provided by SAESA, Stockbridge Police Department, and our own Stockbridge Transportation Department ensured that we were able to quickly evacuate the Junior/Senior High students and ensure their safety.

Student safety continues to be a top priority for our school district.

Sincerely,

Karl Heidrich
Superintendent of Schools
