Softball Splits Pair in Season Opener

The varsity softball team opened the spring season by splitting a doubleheader with Webberville Wednesday, March 19.

The Panthers pounded out 13 hits to take the opener 9-2.

Jessica Sparks had a huge game at the plate with four hits, including a triple and four rbi.

Stockbridge scored three runs in the second and five in the third to pull away for the win.

Jailynn Nelson had a two-run single, while Mckenna Meze had a run scoring double and Sparks a rbi triple in the big five run third.

Nelson finished with two hits and three rbi, while Arianna Smith had two hits and scored a run.

Laura Humrich and Emily Satkowiak had a hit and two runs scored each, Mezo a hit and two rbi, Madison Rusnock a hit and rbi, and Alecia Smith a hit and run scored.

Sparks struck out ten for the win in the circle for the Panthers.

Webberville scored five times in the first and jumped out to a 7-1 lead and held on for a 7-5 win over Stockbridge in the second game.

The Panthers scored four times in the fifth with Mezo collecting a two-run double, Sparks a run scoring triple by Sparks and Azlynn Parks drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Mezo led the offense with a hit and two rbi, while Sparks and Parks had a hit and rbi each.

Humrich had a hit and run scored, Nelson and Alecia Smith one hit each.

Leighton Bremiller took the loss with one strikeout, while Sparks picked up seven strikeouts in relief.
