Waterloo Township Board Unapproved Meeting Minutes 22 November 2022 

Call to Order and Pledge: 7:00 p.m.

Present:  Lance, McAlister, Kitley, Walz, Beck.  Also present: 3 residents.

Public Comment:  None

Consent Agenda: Kitley motioned with support from McAlister to accept the consent agenda as presented.  Aye/all; no/none.   Motion carried.  Kitley motioned with support from Walz to pay Post Audit bills in the amount of $5,149.53.  Roll call vote:  Yes/ Walz, Kitley, Lance, Beck, McAlister.   No/none.  Motion carried.  Deputy Moore’s report for October was as follows:  Deputy Moore and deputies assigned to Waterloo Township worked 170 hours and patrolled 2,446 miles.  Deputies responded to 29 calls for service.  Deputies conducted 28 traffic stops and issued 15 citations.  Deputies investigated 2 property damage traffic crashes.  The Sheriff’s Office responded to 16 calls for service.  The Michigan State Police responded to 14 calls for service.

Correspondence:  Lance read an email received on advertising and stated that we need more information to totally understand it.

Parks & Recreation: Walz stated that they had no meeting in November due to the election.  She will be applying for grants now that the Parks and Recreation Updated Plan is approved.

Planning Commission: Planning Commission report was given by Beck.  They are working on the zoning ordinance text changes and will be moving forward to getting the laptop and mapping program.

  • The quote was read for the Planning Commission laptop for mapping and ordering is on hold until we hear from the Planning Commission members who are working on this.
  • Lance motioned with support from McAlister to approve the boundary adjustment for Paulette Hessenbruch, resulting in Parcel A 000-10-01-126-002-00 and Parcel B 000-10-01-126-003-00 becoming Parcel A now as 002-10-01-126-002-01 and Parcel B 000-10-01-126-003-01. Aye/all; no/none.  Motion carried.
  • Lance read the road report from MDOT and Beck said he would check out all of the roads and the Board will decide which ones may be in worse condition and more in need of repair. It was tabled until December.
  • Lance motioned with support from McAlister to change the December Board meeting to December 19 due to a schedule conflict. Aye/all; no/none.  Motion carried.

Other Business That Comes Before the Board:  Lance stated that he was here for the day on November 8th election day.  He said that everything ran very smoothly with no issues.  Beck also updated the Board on the Clear Lake Road issue and said that things are cleaned up and look much better.  If it gets bad again, another hearing is scheduled for March 26th tentatively. Walz also asked if Green Road was opened yet, and Lance said he would check in and ask for a progress report.

Adjournment:  Walz motioned with support from McAlister to adjourn at 7:33 p.m.  Aye/all; no/none.

The next Planning Commission meeting will be Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.  The next regular board meeting will be on December 19, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.   This change is due to a scheduling conflict.  Minutes will be published in the Stockbridge Community News at the end of each month, on our website waterlootwpmi.gov and on our Facebook page at: waterlootownshipmichigan.
