On Saturday June 16th, the Stockbridge Masonic Lodge #130 will be providing a free child identification program.  The event will be held between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm at the SAESA Ambulance Building, which is located at 125 South Center Street in Stockbridge.  The program is being provided as a part of, “A Day in the Village” event.

Each child that goes through the Child ID process will receive a dental impression as well as a flash drive containing a photo, video, digital fingerprints and their vital information.  Parents or legal guardians of children who participate must be present and fill out a permission slip for the child to receive this service.  Children who have already received the service are encouraged to repeat the process every two years to keep the information in the completed packets current.

The Michigan Child Identification Program provides the family with everything needed for the Amber Alert System.  Over ninety thousand Michigan children have received this valuable service.  The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children considers the Michigan Child Identification Program to be one of the most comprehensive of its kind.

For questions or more information about the event you may call, 269-612-7424 or consult the Michigan Child ID Web Site at:  http://www.michiganchildid.org/.

The Stockbridge Area Arts Council will be sponsoring the “A Day in the Village Art Show” at the Stockbridge Township Hall. It will be held Friday, June 15, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday, June 16, from 10:00 Am to 4:00 PM. This annual event gives local artists a chance to display their work for others to enjoy. Some of the media used in the past were oils, water colors, color pencil on suede mat, photos on basswood, and mixed media, to name a few.

Each year the SAAC centerpieces the work of a featured artist. This year the Art Show honors the legacy of Ronald Fillmore, founder of the annual event, who together his wife Hester were devoted supporters of the arts in our community.

For a fee of $5.00, artists can submit up to three pieces of art. Awards will be presented for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, as well as Honorable Mention. In addition, a prize for People’s Choice will be awarded and is determined by votes cast by visitors to the show on Friday and Saturday.

If you would like to participate in the art show or for more information, entry forms will be available at the library sometime in April or go to the Stockbridge Area Arts Council Facebook page for updates and copies of the entry forms when they become available.
